A few years ago one of my clients asked me to automate the scoring and awards for the Home Crafts building at our annual county fair. For years they did this with a huge notebook (more than 8 inches thick) and hundreds of pieces of paper. After the event they had to sort them out in 1,2, and 3 for each category (there are hundreds of categories) then mail the awards to the winners. WIth this spreadsheet the judges sit a table with an administrator. As they score them the results are put directly into the spreadsheet. Multiple pivot tables with auto-update code show the real time results. In the end, they export the winner's data an merge print all the envelopes. It has saved 100's of hours and resolved numerous arguments about who's pie is best. Awesome.
